This New Zealand multisport race is an iconic annual event for New Zealand's multitude of multisport athletes. 2007 marks the 25th anniversary of The Speight's Coast to Coast where competitors race from the west to east coast of the South Island on 9-10 February 2007.

New Zealand Multisport Race, New Zealand Multisport Event

Competitors run, kayak and cycle their way through a 243-kilometre long course via the Southern Alps. New Zealand's own finest competitors can complete the race in 10 hours and 45 minutes.

The New Zealand multisport race starts just south of Greymouth, at Kumara Beach, on the Tasman Sea, and finishes at Christchurch's Sumner Beach, on the Pacific Ocean. A physically and mentally demanding event, competitors must navigate the course themselves. Competitors can choose to complete the race over one or two days.

The New Zealand multisport event is divided into three races--the One-Day or Longest Day event is for individuals only while the Two-Day event is for individuals and two person teams. In the Teams section the runner and the kayaker both do cycling stages. The only requirements for the race are that you meet the minimum age and provide a grade two kayaking certificate if you're an individual or a team kayaker.

The race has four (4) stages:
