The Roxburgh Gorge Trail
- Grade: Easy
- Duration: 1 day
- Total Length: 34km
- Location: Otago
The 34km Roxburgh Gorge Trail provides a spectacular one day cycle between Alexandra and the Roxburgh Dam, following the Clutha Mata-au River. The middle section of this trail is currently not accessible by bike therefore 10km from Alexandra riders can enjoy a 12km jet boat ride down the river before continuing on their bikes over the last 12km to the Roxburgh Dam. Boat transportation will need to be booked prior to departing. The trail ends at the Roxburgh Dam, but on the other side of the river another Great Ride begins; the Clutha Gold Trail. The Roxburgh Gorge Trail also connects with the Otago Central Rail Trail at Alexandra. Together these three trails provide almost 250km of non-stop scenic Great Riding.
The Roxburgh Gorge Trail is located in the Central Otago region of New Zealand's South Island. The nearest airports are Dunedin International Airport and Queenstown International Airport.
