Ellerslie International Flower Show in Christchurch, New Zealand

For fans of flora and fauna, there's literally a feast of flowers and foliage in store at the Ellerslie Flower Show. The international flower show was last hosted in Christchurch 2014, the 'Garden City' of New Zealand.

From the 11th to the 15th of March, organisers of the flower show expected over 45,000 visitors to attend New Zealand's premier flower event, which was held in the central city's Hagley Park. Over eight hectares is being set aside for the show, which is often compared to the most famous flower show in the world, the Chelsea Flower Show in London.

The Christchurch flower show showcased the work of New Zealand horticultural, floral, landscape design and construction businesses. Visitors discovered the latest season's garden design trends and plant fashions, as well as viewing special displays by floral art groups, horticultural societies and garden clubs. Show favourites were also back this year, alongside a new exhibition which celebrated the flower show's new home in Christchurch by focusing on the city's English heritage and roots.

• Wearable Weeds – Wacky and wondrous floral weed costumes designed by internationally renowned Jenny Gillies.
