Canterbury A&P Show, 10th - 12th November
Billed as the show that sees "country come to town", the Canterbury A&P show is the largest agricultural and farming show in the South Island and offers visitors and locals an excellent opportunity to enjoy a fun day out with plenty of things to do and see including:
- Farmyard and livestock pavillion including demonstrations (shearing and milking)
- Carnival rides and attractions
- Sheep dog trials
- Wood chopping demonstrations and competition
- Show jumping and horse and pony trials
- Helicopter joy rides
- Livestock competitions
- Food and wine pavillion
- Machinery parade
Plus cooking demonstrations, stalls and live entertainment. A&P shows are held throughout the country although not quite on the same scale as the Canterbury show so this is a great one to visit, especially if you are travelling with children. If you'd like to get more information about this year's programme of events, visit the Canterbury A&P 2010 show website.
