The Arapawa homestead, or Gunyah as it is also known, is the original house built in 1945 by Joe and Patty Perano as their retirement home. Refurbished in keeping with the original 1940s character, the homestead is a fully equipped, private and cozy home-away-from-home.

The School Cottage, which is the remodeled school, was where the whaler's children were educated. This special, cozy cottage is located on the grassy flats at Whekenui Bay, Tory Channel.
