Extended Description: Lake Pukaki is located in The Mackenzie Country of the South Island and is fed by the melt water of the distanced glaciers on the east side of the Southern Alps. This gives the lake a distinctive blue colour, created by glacial flour (extremely finely ground rock particles from the glaciers).
