Beach after beach in Doubtless Bay has luxurious caramel and white sand inviting you to swim, snorkel, fish and sail.

Located on the eastern coast of the Northland region, Doubtless Bay enjoys a warm, sub-tropical climate with over 70 kilometres of unspoiled coastline and an abundance of safe and uncrowded beaches.

The Doubtless Bay area extends from Taupo Bay in the east, to the Karikari Peninsula in the west. It also includes the settlements of Hihi, Coopers Beach, Cable Bay, Taipa and Whatuwhiwhi, with its centre in busy, historic Mangonui.

Explore the Whangaroa Harbour—a safe haven for sailors that is surrounded by mountainous rocks, rugged cliffs and lush subtropical bush.

The settlements of Rangiputa and Whatuwhiwhi should also be explored if you have time.

Historic Mangonui

The main town centre in Doubtless Bay is Mangonui.

Mangonui was once a bustling whaling and trading port. Today the scenic, historic village is home to some truly exquisite heritage buildings. The charming, seaside fishing village is also famous for its fish and chips.

Walk the Mangonui Heritage Trail for a glimpse of the wealth of Maori and European history in the area.
