Wellington Botanic Garden
Established in 1868, the Wellington Botanic Garden showcases 25 hectares of unique landscape, protected native forest, conifers, specialised plant collections, colourful flower displays and stunning views over Wellington City.
The garden is classified as a Garden of National Significance by the Royal New Zealand Institute of Horticulture and is an Historic Places Trust Heritage Area.
Catch the Cable Car from Lambton Quay up to the Wellington Botanic Gardens. Wander down through the specialist gardens, native bush and lawn areas to historical Thorndon, New Zealand’s oldest suburb.
Take in the 360 degree panoramas of Wellington City, harbour and the Cook Strait from the top of Mount Victoria. You can drive, catch a bus or walk up via the green belt to the summit.
