Tauranga is a beautiful and prosperous New Zealand city situated on the Bay of Plenty in the North Island. With an urban population of 120,000 Tauranga is the sixth most populous city in New Zealand.

Tauranga is one of New Zealand's main centres for business, international trade, culture, fashion and horticultural science. The Port of Tauranga is New Zealand's largest port in terms of gross export tonnage.

In horticulture Tauranga is particularly known for its tangelos (a grapefruit/tangerine cross), avocados, and kiwifruit.

Scenic Setting

Tauranga is a beautiful coastal city looking out over the wide Bay of Plenty to the north with Mount Maunganui arising conspicuously to the north east and the forested hill country of the central North Island to the south.

Adding to this beautiful setting is a warm climate, not far away from the subtropical mark.

Tauranga History

Tauranga is rich in history and significance; it is home to one of the largest battles between British forces and the local Māori - the Battle of Gate Pa.

It has a fascinating history tell of settlement and development over the years to become presently one of New Zealand's most prosperous cities.
