On the 15-minute drive east toward the city lies Mission Bay with its lively restaurant scene and many waterfront or water-based activities, world famous Kelly Tarlton's Underwater World, Fergie's Kayaks, peaceful Okahu Bay and the Parnell Saltwater Pool complex.

The neighbouring bay to the west, St Heliers Bay is a charming seaside village providing all manner of shopping convenience including banks, post office, library, cafés, restaurants and most services.
