Location of our Napier Accommodation

Ahuriri Village is a vibrant seaside village which offers something for everyone with its many cafes, restaurants, bars, fast food and endless activities to enjoy. These include swimming in the safe beach area, a playground for kids, fishing, kayak and windsurf hire, walking or biking along the Rotary path, boutique cinema, boutique shopping and art galleries.

We are also within walking distance to the heart of Napier's city centre and Marine Parade. Here you will find the Ocean Spa swimming complex, National Aquarium of New Zealand, Visitor Information Centre, Mini Golf and much more.

About the Hawkes Bay

The Hawkes Bay region encompasses the area on the East Coast of the North Island. It is loved for its sunny climate, fabulous beaches, sheltered coastal plains and long-established vineyards.

A unique attraction of the area is the gannet colony on the very tip of Cape Kidnappers—believed to be one of only two mainland gannet colonies in the world.

Gannets are large sea birds with long, pointed wings and golden-yellow heads. Most spectacular is their method of fishing, when whole flocks suddenly dive straight into the sea from a great height, at speeds of up to 145 kilometres per hour.

Te Mata Peak towers 400 metres above sea level and offers panoramic views of the Ruahine, Kaweka and Maungaharuru ranges and Cape Kidnappers.

According to Maori legend, Te Mata hillscape is a sleeping giant, with the hill being the body of Maori Chief, Te Mata O Rongokako. The volcano Ruapehu is also visible in the distance. There are a number of short walking trails through the Te Mata Peak Trust Park.
