About Devonport

Devonport is one of Auckland's oldest suburbs. Old Victorian style villas line the streets, while picturesque beaches and stylish shops all within walking distance of our Auckland homestay.

If you are feeling energetic, you could climb to the top of the distinctive volcanic cones of Mount Victoria or North Head for fantastic views across Auckland city and the nearby islands of the Hauraki Gulf. Or take an easy stroll along King Edward Parade, with its views across the harbour, or along Cheltenham Beach, with its stunning views of Rangitoto Island.

Devonport is home to many interesting art galleries, boutiques and gift shops, most of which are situated along the main street – Victoria Road. You can spend an afternoon browsing, and discover everything from glassware and paintings by New Zealand artists to second hand books, jewellery, designer labels and unique kiwi gift ideas.

Devonport is generally bustling with people, many of whom are sitting outside in street cafes, watching the world go by. The village is a popular place to eat out – take the ferry over for morning tea, a lazy lunch or a more formal evening meal.

After a busy day out, come home to our Devonport bed and breakfast where a good nights rest will have you ready for your adventures the following day.

The Auckland Region

Auckland's amazing geography and warm, humid climate has inspired a lifestyle that's regularly ranked in the world's top ten. In just half an hour you can be almost anywhere: sailing to an island, trekking through the rainforest, picnicking on a volcano, sampling wines at a vineyard or wandering a wild, black sand surf beach. Auckland's layout makes it easy to jump quickly from one theme to another.

A reputation for great art and fashion makes Auckland a shopper's paradise. Within the city zone you'll find originality and flair everywhere you look. Local theatre and live music gigs are another opportunity to discover the creative side of New Zealand culture.
