Our luxury chalet in the Bay of Islands is nestled on a ridge above Paihia Beach with unsurpassed views of the bay and township, spectacular by day and night.

Our Bay of Islands chalet consists of one queen-size room and two king-size suites all tastefully furnished in light and friendly colours reflecting the sea and scenery. Each of our rooms has its own balcony with superb sea views, quality furnishings and fittings, crisp linen and extra comfy beds.

Having lived here for over 20 years we are proud of our local knowledge, passionate about where we live, and love to share it all with you!

Spend your days exploring the Bay of Islands, visit historic Waitangi and Russell or take a tour to 90-Mile Beach. Play a round of golf, walk our picturesque walkways, sail, swim, dive, kayak or just laze at one of the many sandy beaches just a stroll from us.

Why not just enjoy your balcony, read and watch yachts and ferries sail past or take a plunge into our heated indoor pool, soak in the hot spa or work out at the gym. What better way to recharge the batteries?

From our luxury chalet in the Bay of Islands it's only a short stroll down to the beach, shops, wharf and town centre. On the way you'll pass several excellent restaurants and cafes serving fresh fish and seafood, steaks or whatever you feel like. One of them is our popular Swiss Cafe and Grill right on the waterfront.

If you wish you can also talk to us in French or German.

Chalet Romantica also operates its own yacht charter business. Choose between a private fully catered day charter including a delicious hot lunch and a selection of fine New Zealand wines or a fully catered overnight cruise.

Luxury Chalet in the Bay of Islands

The Romantica Suite – Right under the apex, is a beautiful 50-metre square open-plan mini suite with super-king or Californian-king bed. A comfortable lounge sofa on a Berber rug, TV, DVD, CD stereo system plus colourful artwork of local artists form a cosy sitting area. The kitchenette is fully equipped with hotplate and microwave to allow for small intimate meals.

The en suite consists of a shower, toilet, hair dryer and heated towel rail. Lots of windows and a spacious private balcony offer a variety of spectacular ocean and bush views all around. If you are looking for a romantic hideaway and still like to watch the world go by, the Romantica Suite would be your choice.

The Bellevue Suite – A beautifully designed one-bedroom suite. The master bedroom has a super-king-size bed which can also be made into two single beds. There is plenty of wardrobe space, an en suite with shower, toilet, hair dryer and heated towel rail.

Part of the lounge is a fully equipped kitchen with hotplates and microwave. Stylish glass and dinnerware plus all necessary cooking utensils complete the kitchen. Adjacent to the dining area is the lounge with lovely colourful artwork, a comfortable sofa, CD stereo system, TV and DVD player. Windows and a sunny balcony offer fantastic views over the Bay of Islands. Deckchairs, table and lounger are there for extra comfort.

The Bellavista Room – A light and airy room and offers magnificent views over the bay. It has a spacious balcony area with deck chairs, lounger and table for guests to enjoy the breathtaking vista.

The room features a quality queen-size bed, writing table and chairs, TV and VCR, CD player and ample wardrobe space.

A fridge, toaster, kettle and lovely hand-painted crockery, cutlery and glassware are also provided. The private bathroom is just a step across the hallway with a massage shower, toilet, hair dryer and bathrobes. You can book this room either with or without breakfast.
