Blue Thistle Cottages Introduction

Blue Thistle Cottages in Te Anau provide quality accommodation conveniently located right beside the Milford-Te Anau Highway. Our Te Anau vacation homes overlook Lake Te Anau and are close to the Fiordland National Park, a World Heritage Park in the Southland province of New Zealand.

Situated on 10 acres of land and with superb mountain views, our holiday cottages in Te Anau offer accommodation just one kilometre from the beautiful town of Te Anau.

Each of our New Zealand holiday cottages are fully equipped and self-contained with a telephone, complementary broadband internet access and cable Sky TV.

Accommodation at our Cottages in Te Anau

Our Te Anau vacation homes are all freestanding with their own private courtyard and superb views. Each cottage has been individually decorated to a high standard.

The bedroom has a queen slat bed with quality linen and an electric blanket. The large en suite bathroom has heated towel rails, heat lamps, hairdryer, fluffy robes and toiletries. The lounge has cable Sky TV, phone, a broadband Internet connection, plenty of reading material, and a CD and radio player.

If you don't feel like dining at one of our many splendid local restaurants, the kitchen has a fridge, microwave and a selection of tea and coffee. The cottages have double glazing throughout so are very quiet. One cottage has wheelchair access facilities.

Smoking is permitted outside only. There is plenty of parking for cars and boats. You are likely to be met by Paris, a very friendly German shorthaired pointer. We also have a cat named Penelope.

Peter originates from Marlborough and is a builder by trade. Annette originates from the Wairarapa in the North Island.

Travel has been an enjoyable part of our lives and we have been to several places, including the USA, Britain, Bali, Australia, and Fiji, and have travelled extensively throughout New Zealand.

We have owned and operated accommodation places for the past 12 years, firstly in Franz Josef and then in Picton so we feel we know what our guest needs are and we strive to achieve that.

If you love the outdoors you are going to love Fiordland. The scenery is spectacular and activities abound. Whether you choose to do the four-day walk on the renowned Milford Track, or go horse riding for the day, or maybe have a game of golf, you won't be stuck for things to do. A two-day stay minimum is recommended. There is a wonderful selection of restaurants and cafes nearby, in the town of Te Anau.

A two-hour drive to world renowned Milford Sound takes you through some of the most spectacular scenery you will ever see and from there you can take a boat trip out into the Sound. You will be awed by the sheer scale of the mountains rising vertically for thousands of feet from the sea, by the huge waterfalls and ancient rainforest.

Te Anau is the gateway to Fiordland, and is known as the walking capital of the world. The famous Milford Track and also the Kepler Track start here. Activities include fishing, hunting, kayaking, horse riding, diving, glow worm caves and sightseeing in the one of the world's most scenic regions.

Te Anau township has many fine restaurants and a good selection of shops, chemist, dentist, doctor, hair salons and so on. Escape the hustle and bustle and enjoy all that Te Anau and Blue Thistle Cottages have to offer.
