Our bed and breakfast is situated on a prime site on the Kaikoura Peninsula with one of the best views available from your room or balcony.

Only five minutes to the town centre, and to all of Kaikoura's local attractions.

Austin Heights, our Kaikoura bed and breakfast accommodation has magnificent views of the Kaikoura Seaward Ranges, capped with snow most of the year and only minutes drive from whale watch, dolphin encounter, seal colony, town centre and local winery.

Bed and Breakfast in Kaikoura Accommodation

We have two new en suite units elevated above our home, which are well equipped with quality bedding and furnishings, kitchenette, fridge, microwave, heating, double glazing in all rooms, hairdryers, heated towel rails, electric blankets, TV, tea and coffee facilities, also with complimentary chocolates.

Both rooms have large sliding doors opening directly out onto a balcony where you can sit and enjoy a glass of wine and admire the stunning view. Both units are sunny and warm and have double glazing.

Choose between the luxury and spacious suite with super-king bed, or luxury and spacious suite with comfortable queen bed and a double sofa bed.

We serve a generous breakfast, and cooked breakfasts are available.

Each unit has a private entrance with plenty of off street parking available.

Discount available for more than one nights stay.

Garden and Mountain View Apartment – Private and spacious self-contained apartment on the ground level with a great outlook of the mountains and the garden.

Kitchenette and facilities, bathroom with shower and bath. Lounge area with TV, DVD and movies, stereo and CD player, wireless Internet available.

A comfortable double and single bed plus a double sofa bed. Alarm clock-radio and robes. Large glass doors open outside to a table and chairs. BBQ area available.

We also provide courtesy transport to and from the bus or train.

NZ$195 per double, NZ$40 extra per adult, and NZ$25 extra per child—12 years and under.

The Kaikoura Region

Kaikoura is a seaside settlement approximately three hours drive north of Christchurch, and is situated halfway between Christchurch and Picton.

Gateway to the Southern Ocean's Marine Mammal Sanctuary, Kaikoura is one of the rare places where you can see whales, dolphins, seals, albatross, penguins and many species of pelagic ocean birds in a single day.

In Maori, Kaikoura literally means “to eat crayfish”, be sure to pause at a local restaurant to enjoy this delicacy.

A variety of rare marine mammals converge off this piece of coast—sperm whales, New Zealand fur seals, dolphins and penguins.

• Go whale-watching by boat or air, all year round
• Swim with or observe dolphins on a dolphin encounter
• Experience seal swimming with a land-based or boat-based guided seal snorkelling tour
• Take a bird watching tour, to view seabirds, albatross, molly-mawks, petrels and many more
• Shark diving is the way to view Kaikoura's sharks, from the safety of a shark cage
• Hike the Kaikoura Peninsula walkway—three hours return to visit a seal colony, limestone formations and a seabird colony
• Visit Fyffe House, a colonial whalers cottage
