Woodland Glen Luxury Lodge Introduction

Laurie and Janette invite you to join them at Woodland Glen Luxury Lodge, in the peaceful haven of their West Coast bed and breakfast.

Woodland Glen Luxury Lodge is a large and beautiful country house built in 1987, offering luxury Hokitika lodge accommodation just two kilometres away from Hokitika town centre.

• Three-hour drive from Christchurch
• Three hours and 45 minutes from Nelson
• Two hours from Westport
• One hour and 50 minutes from Franz Josef

Set in a 21-acre woodland park among kahikatea, or white pine trees, Woodland Glen Luxury Lodge offers majestic views of the Southern Alps and an abundance of native bird life.

Spend time strolling around the grounds and the more formal lodge gardens, enjoy the variety of bird life or just sit in the guest lounge by the wood burner and browse through some books with a glass of New Zealand wine.

Hokitika's history lies amidst the gold rush of the early 19th Century and there are many interesting places to visit.

West Coast Bed and Breakfast Accommodation

Come on in to our luxury Hokitika lodge on the West Coast and we will show you around. Each of our suites is named after a West Coast lake.

Moeraki Suite – Named after Lake Moeraki, which is found north of Haast in South Westland.

The Moeraki suite is a beautiful, octagonal-glass room complete with a magnificent recycled four-poster queen-size bed which ensures Woodland Glen Luxury Lodge offers the ultimate in comfort.

This suite offers excellent all-round views of the gardens and surrounding forest.

Paringa Suite – The Paringa suite is named after Lake Paringa, just north of Haast in South Westland.

The comfortable and spacious south facing Paringa suite has a queen-size bed and a wonderful window seat where you can sit and enjoy the enviable views of the imposing Southern Alps which can often be seen rising from the early morning ground mist.

Ianthe Suite – Ianthe suite located on the north side of Woodland Glen luxury lodge.

The bright and large Ianthe suite has both a queen-size and single bed, providing comfortable accommodation as a twin room or for a family of three.

• This suite has stunning views of the mountains and surrounding area
• Complete with en suite

Mahinapua Suite – The Mahinapua room is named after Lake Mahinapua found just south of Hokitika in Westland.

The Mahinapua room has a queen-size and a single bed making it suitable accommodation as a twin room or for a family of three. The Mahinapua room is partially surrounded by the shrub garden at Woodland Glen Luxury Lodge.

Rotokino Suite – It is named after Lake Rotokino, just north of Whataroa.

The peaceful Rotokino room has a queen-size bed. The views from the window on the south side look past the tulip tree which during autumn changes colour to the most spectacular oranges and yellows; and then across the neighbouring land to the foothills of the magnificent Southern Alps.

West Coast Bed and Breakfast Hosts

Laurie is a fourth generation West Coaster, a retired Police veteran with an aviation background as a commercial pilot on both helicopters and aeroplanes. Laurie has a wealth of knowledge of the region and its people.

Janette is originally from Edinburgh, Scotland and is presently employed as a health professional. Janette is actively involved in a local quilting group and has an interest in most crafts.

West Coast Attractions

Within 30 minutes you can be well on the way from our lodge accommodation in Hokitika to tramping through our spectacular native wilderness areas or just taking a leisurely walk along side one of the many lakes, strolling down the beach or visiting the beautiful and rugged countryside.

Take a helicopter flight from Woodland Glen Luxury Lodge and satisfy the hunter or fisher within by spending time amongst the famous fishing rivers and hunting locations around the West Coast—all within a short flying distance of Woodland Glen Luxury Lodge.
