Heated indoor pool and spa – Unwind by the heated indoor swimming pool, warm in winter and cool in summer the pool has an adjoining children's pool, or relax in our spa pool.
Facials, manicures, pedicures and massages – Pamper yourself. We can arrange for you to have the above treatments at Sarnia Park in comfort and luxury.
Croquet and petanque – Enjoy a fun game while sipping a glass of wine or drinking a cold beer.
Cycling – A walkway/cycle track, which extends from Cambridge to Lake Karapiro, has recently been opened and passes the end of the drive way at Sarnia Park. To maximise this opportunity for guests we have purchased two new bicycles and helmets which are available for hire. This provides a great opportunity to take a packed lunch and enjoy the local sites including the lake where the recent World Rowing Championships were held.
Maungatautari Ecological Reserve – The reserve is an exciting place to visit – at 3,400 hectares it is the site of the largest restoration project on mainland New Zealand involving the total eradication of introduced mammalian pests. The vision is to restore to the forest a healthy diversity of indigenous plants and animals not seen in our lifetime.
Cambridge Golf Club – The Cambridge club is a full service 18 hole golf course situated 10 minutes from Sarnia Park. The Narrows and Tirau golf courses are within half an hours travelling.
Mystery Creek Winery – Is perched high on the banks of the Waikato River and has a five hectare home block vineyard producing award winning wines and a nearby cafe. It makes for a great afternoon tasting the local drop.
There are a number of other activities and attractions, including local cafes within easy driving distance of our accommodation in Cambridge. They include Alphra Lavenders and the Lily Pad Cafe which shares a site with the Garden Art Sudio.
The Waikato Region
The Waikato is the first region south of Greater Auckland. It has two spectacular landscapes—one above ground, the other below.
Above ground the view is dominated by the serenity of the Waikato River and the rich rolling green of productive farmland.
The Waikato river is best experienced from the deck of a classic paddle steamer. While the world passes by, an interesting commentary will tell you about local landmarks, the history of the region and riverbank life.
Charming townships dot the rich green countryside of the Waikato region.
Waikato's wildly diverse landscape make it an exotic playground with something for everyone. Visit Lake Karapiro, spread a picnic rug and watch the water sports. Wakeboarding, rowing and water-skiing make exciting viewing during summer.
Visit Raglan and Kawhia and body surf, swim or walk the sand. Hike to beautiful Bridal Veil Falls or discover the views from the top of Mount Karioi.
Venture into Waitomo Caves to see stalactites, stalagmites and a magical display of glowworms. If one cave isn't enough, you can also explore the Aranui and Ruakuri caves.
