About Hanmer Springs

Hanmer Springs is a small alpine resort in the Canterbury region about 110km from Christchurch.

The thermal reserve at Hanmer Springs has been developed to include a spa, large water play area for children, water slides, rockpools and pools of varying temperatures.

The roads and forests around the township can be explored by bike or on foot with many pathways suitable for families with younger children.

Older adrenalin seekers can enjoy bungy jumping, jet boating, kayaking, white-water rafting and 4WD off-road safaris through the surrounding high country.

Hanmer can get busy in peak seasons and over school and bank holiday weekends, so book early and pack with unpredictable mountain weather in mind.
