New Zealand Farmstay Accommodation

Waiwhenua Farmstay Introduction

Gary, Kirsty and family welcome you to Waiwhenua Farmstay, our Hawkes Bay accommodation which is located 45-50 minutes drive west of Napier and Hastings.

Stay at our historic Waiwhenua Homestead or Annie's Cottage. Both of these buildings are over 120 years old.

Our guests enjoy a friendly family atmosphere and experience a genuine New Zealand farmstay on our sheep, cattle and deer farm. For trout fishing enthusiasts, we have one of the best rivers Hawkes Bay has to offer right at the door step of our New Zealand farmstay.

Our third-generation family-run farm has been operating New Zealand farmstays since 1997. We provide our guests with specialised informative farm tours, providing you with information and opportunities to explore the farm and river section at your leisure.

You can also stay at Mahia Magic, a lovely holiday home on the beautiful Mahia Peninsula (two hours north of Napier) and within easy walking distance to two safe swimming beaches.

Annie's Cottage Accommodation

Our recently renovated, fully self-contained, three-bedroom historic Hawkes Bay accommodation cottage has extensive views over farmland and beyond to the cliffs of the trout filled Tutaekuri River.

Our cosy home away from home provides guests with a private retreat to relax and unwind. Annie’s Cottage is in the heart of the large intensive sheep, cattle, deer farm.

We have excellent trout fishing, while in season, in a private stretch of river. An extensive farm tour is offered to those that are interested. Soak up the atmosphere of a working family run New Zealand farm. Many mountain and lake walks are within a drive of 20 to 30 minutes of our Hawkes Bay accommodation.

Enjoy the hospitality of your hosts Kirsty, Gary and family at the Waiwhenua historic homestead for a swim, coffee, a beer on the veranda or just a chat.

Meals can be arranged with prior notice for guests, usually home grown beef, lamb or venison.

Waiwhenua Farmstay Accommodation

Waiwhenua Farmstay is situated just 45 to 50 minutes drive from Napier and Hastings cities in the heartland of the Hawkes Bay. Our unique New Zealand farmstay is located off the Napier to Taihape Road, at the edge of the Kaweka Forest Park and bordering the Tutaekuri River.

Our guests experience a genuine New Zealand farmstay on our extensive sheep, cattle and deer farm. Informative tours are provided for all guests on request.

Trout Fishing

Trout fishing is always popular with our guests interested in either fly or spinner fishing. We can provide all rental equipment necessary for you to catch the trout of the day. We promote catch and release to all guests and anglers visiting our waters of our precious river. The season dates are October through to end of April.

We have our residential guide Jason who also works on the farm. He has very good knowledge of our local rivers and can take you for a journey and adventure that you will remember for years to come. He has excellent knowledge of fly tying and fishing and will guide you, from a few hours to a full day, with prior arrangements.

Mahia Magic Accommodation

Mahia Magic is a lovely two-floor, five-bedroom house with fantastic sea views located in the beautiful Mahia Peninsula. Accommodating up to ten people, our accommodation is within walking distance of two safe beaches.

The bedrooms have one queen-size bed, one double bed, three single beds, and two sets of bunks.

The house is fully self-contained, with fully equipped kitchen including fridge, oven and microwave.

Facilities at Mahia Magic include:

• Pillows, blankets, duvets provided, linen available on request
• Five bedrooms that sleep up to ten guests
• Fireplace with wood supplied
• Freezer and extra fridge
• BBQ
• Stereo and TV
