Glenmac Farmstay Introduction

Glenmac is an Oamaru farmstay on a 1,583 hectare high country sheep and beef cattle farm situated in the picturesque Waitaki Valley, 45 minutes inland from Oamaru and 15 kilometres from the small country town of Kurow.

Kaye and Keith extend a warm welcome to visitors and enjoy providing them with the experience of living with a friendly farming family on a typical New Zealand high country farm.

Visitors live in our Oamaru farmstay with the hosts and enjoy delicious home cooked meals and country hospitality.

Attractions at our Oamaru Farmstay

At our Oamaru farmstay accommodation:

• Table tennis and darts
• Farm tour by four-wheel-drive
• Hand feed pet sheep
• Sheep dog display
• Sheep shearing (by arrangement)
• Horse riding—rides can vary from a short walk around the home paddock to a few hours riding up and down hills taking in the fantastic views. A small pony is also available to give children rides.
• Tramping—challenging day tramps on our Oamaru farmstay! Explore the hills and river valleys following well-defined tracks. Perhaps take lunch and make a day of it or just enjoy a short stroll. The views are fantastic!

• Penguins—blue and yellow-eyed penguins in Oamaru, a 45 minute drive

• One room with en suite—double and single bed, dinner, bed and breakfast

• One twin room—shared bathroom, dinner, bed and breakfast (these rooms are in the homestead)

Campervan Park and Tent Sites

At our Oamaru accommodation we have three power points for campervans and plenty of scope for you to put your tent. Shower, toilet and full kitchen available for your use or enjoy. Meals with the family if you feel like time off cooking. A variety of magazines and books will help you to relax in the evenings.

During the day we can arrange for horse riding, fishing, four wheel driving, golf, hire a mountain bike or you can take advantage of the tracks and walkways available in the area, or explore the surrounding district.

Backpackers and Self-Contained Accommodation

Our comfortable backpackers hostel at our Oamaru farmstay accommodation has beds for nine, all linen is supplied and a full kitchen for your use. The gas heater ensures that you are kept warm and spare blankets are available in case the nights turn chilly.

Meals are available with the family if you feel like time off cooking. Magazines, books, cards and a TV will help you to relax in the evenings.
