Hawke's Bay offers so much and it would be selfish of us not to reveal some of our local secrets. As lifelong residents of Hawke's Bay your hosts, Nick and Judy, have a huge network of connections and a passion for sharing experiences that are simply unavailable to most visitors.

We are perfectly relaxed about leaving you to your own agenda but absolutely committed to ensuring that your experience staying at John's House is as good as it gets. That is why we have evolved a collection of experiences for you to enjoy. Some are year round – others seasonal. Just let us know if we can help make your stay in Hawke's Bay more memorable.

We love and cherish our property and enjoy sharing it with our guests. Originally an orchard the land is now in pasture and we raise cattle. We've planted hundreds of shrubs and trees; fruit, nut exotic and native – and have really extensive lawns and gardens, which are a haven for birdlife including Tuis and bellbirds. Fresh herbs, fruit and vegetables are abundant.

It's a paradise for children – we'll even offer to babysit or find a responsible surrogate. Your pets are welcome too but by prior arrangement please. We have a dog, cat, pigs, hens, ducks and cattle of our own so some rules apply! You're welcome to enjoy our gardens and swimming pool. Before we sign off, during your stay breakfast is included with Judy's wicked homemade muesli always on the menu.
