Our Marlborough Bed and Breakfast
The Rose and Dolphin – Peaceful, sunny and private, with a small balcony overlooking a gently running stream and native bush, with sea views down through the garden. It sleeps up to four in one large spacious loft room. Perfect for an individual, friends, a couple, or a family.
Downstairs is a shower and toilet, upstairs a small fridge, and tea and coffee making facilities. You can be as sociable or as private as you wish.
The Garden Cottage – Simple, beautiful, some say enchanting, private cottage set in our garden, but overlooking the secluded sandy beach. It has a private, sunny and sheltered veranda. The next best thing to being at sea!
Wonderful on a peaceful sunny day, a moonlit night or in a wild storm. Perfect for an individual, two friends, or a couple. Facilities for tea, fresh coffee and small fridge are in the cottage.
The Seabreeze Cottage – New, beautiful, self contained and very special one bedroom cottage with a spacious open plan living design and a large wraparound deck. Enjoy stunning views across to D'urville Island, the ocean, the mountains beyond and gorgeous sunsets. Enjoy watching passing boats, dolphins and seabirds.
It has a large king size bed plus a wide comfortable window seat in the living area that can accommodate two individuals as well. It has a well appointed kitchen and bathroom, with an eco swedish style composting toilet.
There is a toilet in a small adjacent, building in the garden, and a guest bathroom in the main house with a beautiful old bath and shower for your sole use. Can sleep up to three, including a couple.
Children are welcome at Ngaio Bay. We are happy to prepare meals separately for them if you wish. Sourdough pancakes are a special family Sunday tradition, going back 30 years! Ngaio Bay is a place where it is never to late to have a happy childhood.
All guests can share our spacious, sunny timber home and sprawling verandas, large library, television and video, piano, good company and huge friendly table.
As a special treat any guest can enjoy a bath outside under the sun or stars, heated by fire, prepared by your hosts.

Location of our Marlborough Bed and Breakfast
Ngaio Bay, five kilometres from beautiful French Pass, looks northwest to D'Urville Island just across the water, ocean, mountains and sunsets. A magnificent wild coastline, abundant marine life, dolphins and sea birds. A wilderness gem!
Take the spectacular, long and winding road, sometimes unsealed, from Rai Valley, Marlborough, through bush, forest and farmland to our remote, secluded, sandy bay. It is an hour and a half of breathtaking vistas and wilderness, passing through the small settlement of Okiwi Bay en route.
Our home nestles in a lovely garden, right on the sea on the Northwest tip of the outer Sounds, opposite D'Urville Island, and just a short distance from the awesome waters of French Pass.
Marlborough, located in the northern region of New Zealand's South Island, stretches from coast to coast.
We are approximately two hours from both Nelson and Blenheim and about 2½ hours drive from Picton. Turn left at our mailbox with “The Sonnelands Ngaio Bay”, and drive down 1½ kilometres to our home. Phone first for directions, and for wet weather instructions.
