Introduction

Great Barrier Lodge overlooks beautiful Whangaparapara Harbour in an ideal setting for your retreat - away from the stresses and jet-setting pace of the modern world.

Surrounded by bush covered hills the Lodge is set amongst picturesque grounds of mature native trees and spacious lush lawns. You will stroll around the grounds with wood pigeons, tui or kaka flying in the trees or banded rail darting away at your feet.

Whether it is rest and relaxation – or adventure - the choice is yours.

We are happy to assist you in arranging activities for your programme or as an interlude from your work sessions. The more active may choose tramping, bushwalks, hot pools, swimming or kayaking, rock fishing or boat charter, golfing or horse riding. Others may wish to visit our local winery or go on a scenic or historical bus tour of the island.

The Lodge is not served with electrical reticulation. We have modern generating plants as well as solar. We ar installing a mini hydro electric system. We are keen to preserve our environment and are converting our Lodge to be waste and energy efficient.

We specialise in mini conferencing, adventure tourism, groups, weddings and plain good fun.
