Ugbrooke Country Estate Introduction
Ugbrooke Country Estate is a truly unique nineteenth century Marlborough lodge, situated in the Awatere Valley on a 16-acre, elevated site.
Our Blenheim country lodge is set in park like grounds with sweeping lawns and huge gardens, it has marvellous views of farmland, vineyards, Cook Strait and the North Island. To the south are the Kaikoura Ranges and mighty Mt Tapuaenuku.
Our Marlborough lodge has spacious guest rooms, lofty ceilings, and extensive timber finishings such as panelling, doors, architraves and fire mantles rarely seen in homes today.
Our Marlborough Lodge
Our Blenheim country lodge offers five spacious guest rooms all with en suites, each named to reflect the rich history of the house.
Each room at our Marlborough lodge retains its original character with magnificent high ceilings, fireplaces with crafted timber surrounds and traditional furniture.
All rooms have en suite bathroom, modern heating and a small bar fridge.
Vavasour Room – Once the 'smoking room' for the gentlemen of Ugbrooke but now a softly furnished bedroom with half-tester king-size bed, a huge fireplace surround and romantic drapes. The room looks out to the sweeping lawn, vineyards and magnificent Cook Strait.
Clifford Room – One of the larger bedrooms with modern super-king-bed and french doors opening on to the verandah that overlooks the sweeping lawn to the vineyards. This room's elegant ambience invites total relaxation and is ideal for honeymooners. A beautifully carved fireplace is a feature along with the original ceiling light shades.
Awatere Room – Decorated in warm colours with a king-bed, this special room boasts a huge original en suite bathroom with claw foot bath, antique shower head and pressed zinc ceilings and walls.
Chevalier Room – Named after the award winning barley that Henry Vavasour developed at Ugbrooke which gained recognition in Europe in 1908, this richly furnished room has a warm french theme and features a half-tester queen-bed with tapestry drapes. It is inward facing to the central courtyard.
Devon Room – This lovely cosy room offers a warm saffron ambience. It has a queen-bed and modern decor.
Functions at our Marlborough Lodge
For special occasions, Ugbrooke Country Estate offers the possibility of a truly memorable event—the grand old house, the lawns, gardens and spectacular views add up to an unforgettable setting for corporate retreats, weddings, romantic getaways and celebrations.
Well away from the distractions of town but only 20 minutes from Blenheim, Ugbrooke presents an exceptional opportunity for building your team and developing fresh perspectives on your business. The Chudleigh Room provides an historic setting for focused reflection and productive discussion.
We can organise any conference equipment and services you need, at an additional charge. Should you wish exclusive use of Ugbrooke Country Estate incorporating overnight accommodation then this can be arranged and ensures total privacy for that special meeting or conference. If team building is on the agenda then why not enjoy a round of golf on the nine hole chip and putt, have a game of cricket or challenge the staff with lawn bowls.
Memories of a wedding at Ugbrooke Country Estate will last a lifetime and photos in the gardens will add that special touch.
Family reunions are ideal for our lodge in Marlborough, with its historical connections to Marlborough and its original architectural features.
