Boscabel Lodge Introduction

Boscabel Lodge is our Tauranga lodge accommodation, a large, modern mansion on a rise overlooking a sweep of rural and suburban land and the distant outline of the Kaimanawa Ranges, Mount Maunganui and Mayor Island. Not long ago it was an avocado orchard.

Rosemary and Peter and their two children are New Zealanders who have recently arrived back in the country and decided to put down roots at this Tauranga bed and breakfast lodge in a sunny corner of the North Island.

Our Tauranga lodge accommodation has many notable features. The colours and patterns of the Feng Shui tiling that covers the floors, patios and outdoor areas is integrated with the colourful drapes and furnishings. There are also extensive spaces open to the sun and view, with an ambience of a cheerful and inviting nature.

Guests staying at our Tauranga bed and breakfast lodge are offered the choice of two fully self-contained apartments—The Garden Apartment and The Pool Apartment, or a spacious suite—The Suite.

Each has their own entrance and individual balcony or terrace. The apartments and suite at our Tauranga lodge are serviced daily, with fresh bathroom and pool towels provided each day.

A "Super Continental Breakfast" is served in The Suite, and also available by prior arrangement in the apartments at an extra charge.

Our Tauranga lodge is set in landscaped grounds and is surrounded by avocado trees from the original orchard. There is a native bush walk only 200 metres away.

Within 10 minutes' drive is Mount Maunganui Beach, the airport, downtown Tauranga, the wineries and golf courses. A little further afield you can swim with the dolphins, and visit the thermal wonders of Rotorua and magical Lake Taupo.

About the Bay of Plenty

This region seems to have it all—a mild, sunny climate, some of the country's most popular beaches and an abundance of orchards, especially citrus and kiwifruit. The main centre, Tauranga, has all the amenities of a major city.

Local features include:

Boat charters are available from Tauranga for big game fishing, snorkelling, dolphin watching or just cruising. Out on the horizon is White Island, an active volcano usually identified by its trailing plume of steam. Helicopter trips land on the island from Rotorua and Whakatane, along with boat trips also from Whakatane.
