Panorama Motor Lodge is our sea-view motel in Timaru. Situated in a central location and overlooking the beautiful Caroline Bay and the mountains of South Canterbury, we are in an ideally suited location for business or pleasure.

Our seaside motor lodge has a total of 19 fully self-contained units in two wings; the Alpine Wing and the Bay Wing.

Alpine Wing – These units enjoy views of the magnificent mountains of South Canterbury, including Aoraki/Mount Cook, all double-glazed for your peace and quiet.

• Studio – Features spa baths, kitchen corner with microwave and cook-top, workstation, computer jack-point and TV.
• Executive or Family Unit – Features a fully equipped kitchen, including stove, dishwasher, fridge and freezer. They also feature a spa bath and shower, with an additional TV in master bedroom, balconies, and will accommodate up to six people.
• Access Unit – A twin-bed unit that has been carefully designed to comply with regulations.

Bay Wing – Recently refurbished units with views of Caroline Bay.

• One-Bedroom Units – Some units will accommodate up to four people and most have balconies and sea views. Facilities include microwaves, showers, phone, Sky TV and additional TV in the master bedroom.
• Large Family Unit – This unit is suitable for small meetings or interviews, with seating for up to 12 people.

Activities around our Seaview Motel in Timaru

Timaru is located on the east coast of the South Island of New Zealand. The setting between the Pacific Ocean and Southern Alps make Timaru a great place to visit. Our prime central location on the Bay Hill ensures that guests have panoramic views of the mountains or sea.

At our doorstep is Caroline Bay. Holidaymakers have been flocking to this stretch of sandy, safe beach for more than 100 years. This seaside haven retains some of its traditional Edwardian flavour with promenades, playground and picnic areas. Its long-running annual Christmas / New Year carnival continues to draw visitors from throughout New Zealand and beyond, for family days of entertainment and fairground rides.

The region of Canterbury includes a large central portion of the east coast of the South Island, centred on the city of Christchurch.

From the silvery beaches of the East Coast to the jagged peaks of the Southern Alps, the Canterbury landscape is impossible to ignore. Big scenery is the order of the day, huge panoramas of ocean or mountains, great sweeps of pastureland, massive amounts of sky.

It's easy to be awestruck, but if you want to be totally flabbergasted, take a hot air balloon ride. The experience of floating across the Canterbury Plains with the majesty of the Southern Alps behind you will ingrain itself on your memory forever.

The highest point of the region is the highest point of New Zealand, the spectacular Aoraki/Mount Cook. At the other end of the scale, the submarine trenches off the coast of Kaikoura are thousands of metres deep, providing an ideal environment for the whales, dolphins and seals that permanently live there.
