Kaikoura Kayaks Introduction
Kaikoura Kayaks offer kayaking in Kaikoura, our magic little sea-side village where the marine life outnumbers the humans and mountains meet the sea.
What better way to catch up with the locals of the marine kind than with our sea kayaking tours in Kaikoura!
The curious New Zealand fur seals are only a few paddle strokes away and our local Kaikoura kayaking guides would love to introduce you to them and their mates in the backyard of the Kaikoura Peninsula.
When I first paddled around their playground, I was left with a lasting impression which became addictive and realised that no one should miss out on this experience. So Kaikoura Kayaks was created as a means of everybody having the chance to feel the magic of Kaikoura's marine mammals.
For our tours you don't need any kayaking experience, as we will teach you how to paddle. No matter what your background, kayaking is quickly and easily learnt by all ages.
Our hassle free, eco-friendly Kaikoura kayaking tours offer a safe, enjoyable, interactive trip, with little effort and a whole lot of good fun!
I invite you to taste a bit of the famous Kiwi pie that is Kaikoura and its wildlife, and look forward to paddling with you soon.
Seal Kayaking in Kaikoura
We meet all our customers at 19 Killarney Street at the start of each Kaikoura kayaking tour.
Watch fur seals dive and manoeuvre around and under your kayak. Paddle with them as they swim around the peninsula hunting for octopus.
Keep your distance while dinner is devoured in front of you, then duck for cover as hundreds of Pelagic (ocean going) birds swoop in to clean up the left-overs...
Continue your journey around the reefs to encounter other marine mammals.

Kayak Fishing in Kaikoura
Kaikoura Kayaks also offers the chance to hire sit-on-top kayaks for fishing, by the hour, half or full day.
Kayak fishing is becoming popular because you can go to places you wouldn't normally consider when in a boat. You can launch your kayak virtually anywhere and you can also gain access to locations for land based fishing that were previously inaccessible.
Fishing from a kayak is a great low impact form of exercise to work out arms, pecs, stomach, and back muscles.
For a fraction of the cost of chartering a boat you can have a fully equipped fishing kayak and enjoy the sheer thrill of catching a fish from a kayak compared to fishing off other craft.
Kayak School
If you're new to the sport of sea kayaking, or want to improve on the skills you have already, our kayak school will get you up to speed.
The kayak school is designed to take you from paddling a sea kayak for the first time, working through the proficiency award, right up to training for the SKOANZ (Sea Kayak Operators Association of New Zealand) Guides Qualification.
Instructors are SKOANZ qualified and have extensive knowledge of sea kayaking, having trained themselves along the same pathway.
