Step onto the big yellow Kawarau Jet at the main town pier in the centre of Queenstown for an unforgettable experience. Our Queenstown jet boat transports you from the sophisticated downtown area into the channels of two of New Zealand's most scenic rivers.

The Kawarau river jet speeds across the pristine waters of Lake Wakatipu and through the tranquil beauty of the willow-lined Kawarau River, and then into the shallow, fast moving braids of the Shotover River. The 43-kilometre, hour-long adventure highlights the magnificent diversity of Queenstown's waterways.

When you return to the pier you'll descend beneath the lake's surface to Underwater World where you can feed the fish that thrive close to the shore. Photos from your trip can be purchased here as mementos of your unique Kawarau River jet boat adventure.

Kawarau Jet Cultural Trips

Kawarau Jet is proud to offer a personalised and interactive cultural experience for visitors and New Zealand locals alike.

The excursion will include a welcome and blessing by a specifically trained guide, fluent in Te Reo (Maori Language) before departing by Kawarau Jet to cover, amongst many things, the Legend of Lake Wakatipu and a fascinating insight into how Maori people lived and moved through the mountains and over the Kawarau and Shotover Rivers in search of food and treasured Pounamu (greenstone).

Two departures are scheduled each day from our Twin Rivers Jetty which is situated opposite Earnslaw Park on the Lakefront.

Guests will spend 1.5 hours on the water but we ask that they allow two hours to enjoy this experience. Each excursion will be limited to 12 passengers to preserve the interaction and personalised focus of the guided trip.
