Welcome to Whanganui River Adventures at Pipiriki Village, Whanganui River. We are a small, commercial Whanganui jet boating and canoe operation based in Pipiriki and come with years of experience.

The Whanganui River is the longest navigable waterway in New Zealand and the second longest river in the North Island and is rich in tradition, legend and mystery.
Whanganui River Adventures are based in Pipiriki, which is located approximately 79 kilometres from Wanganui City. Pipiriki, meaning little pipi, is often considered the gateway to the upper Whanganui.
Whanganui River Adventures invites you to join Ken, your driver-guide with extensive local knowledge and years of experience on a four to five-hour tour to the Historic Landmark “The Valley of Abandoned Dreams” better known as “The Bridge to Nowhere”.
The tour departs from Pipiriki with a 45-minute jet boat journey upriver 32 kilometres to the Mangapurua Landing, through an area of spectacular natural features with deep river gorges covered with green tree ferns and lush native vegetation.
With your guide we will take you on an easy grade 40-minute walk from the Mangapurua landing following in the footsteps of the early pioneers along the old roadway to the “Bridge to Nowhere”.
This stunningly scenic jet boat tour departs from Pipiriki which takes approximately 45 minutes return trip.
This Whanganui river tour takes you upriver to the famous “Drop Scene” area. The name originates from the musical hall days of the 1900s. This area consists of three caves, two of which are The “Puraroto” Caves and on the right side of the river is the “Dress Circle” Cave.
We then go a further distance round the corner to the beautiful “Mangaio Stream”, just upstream we then go into the “Ngaporo Rapid” which meanders it’s path thru clay padded bluffs, travelling further upstream through some spectacular steep gorges and finally into the mouth of the “Manganui-o-te Ao River”.

Whanganui River Adventures provides a friendly outdoor and wilderness taxi service. Designed for trampers we cater for small and large groups.
Get dropped off or picked up at the Whanganui River end of the Matemateaonga Track. This walk has DOC (Department of Conservation) huts on the track or camp out under the stars with a good strong tent.
We can offer safe car parking at either end of the tracks. Car ferrying to and from the track ends can be arranged. Hut passes can be obtained from any local DOC office.
