Tussock, Alex and their team at Rangitata Rafts invite you to come and join them for a fantastic day of Canterbury whitewater rafting out in the heart of the Southern Alps.
They offer Canterbury river rafting on one of New Zealand's most exciting stretches of white water and incorporate it into a unique day experience, priding themselves in providing a personalised day's adventure where guests are treated as individuals and yet leave feeling part of the team.
We just want to thank you for the great day that we were able to spend with you. It was one of the highlights of our trip, greatly due to the fact that you guys were so friendly to all of us. We had a lot of fun and will be telling friends whoever goes to New Zealand to go rafting with you. Thanks for the great food, the transport, the genuine caring and mostly the friendly atmosphere.

Yes, this Canterbury river-rafting trip offers excitement, but it is still suitable for first timers. The trip begins on a very flat grade one stretch of water and is incredibly scenic. In fact, this valley was the site of Edoras, Lord of the Rings.
The flat section allows you time for a full safety brief, training, and time to get to know your fellow rafters. As the massive volume of water begins to wind through the gorge, the rapids build in a natural progression to the intense grade four and five sections where you ride “Roosters Tails”, drop into “Pigs Trough” and hang on through “The Pinch”.
There is always the option to walk around any rapids; sometimes people like to know this option exists before they begin.
After that buzz there is the opportunity for some swimming and an optional leap from the famous “Jump Rock”.
This was one of the best outdoor activity companies I got to know here in New Zealand. Definitely the best way for me to spend my last day in New Zealand. You guys made my day.

The itinerary for our Canterbury river-rafting trips is:
Relax and enjoy the rural beauty of New Zealand at Rangitata Rafts lodge, located on one of New Zealand's first high country sheep stations at the foot of the Southern Alps.
Two nights in this lovely hideaway and a superb day rafting—what an excellent way to end my New Zealand trip.
Pam, United Kingdom
Peel Forest Park is only 13 kilometres away with magnificent native bush walks, where you will actually get to hear the birds and not just other people.

The Canterbury Region includes a large central portion of the East Coast of the South Island, centred on the city of Christchurch.
From the silvery beaches of the East Coast to the jagged peaks of the Southern Alps, the Canterbury landscape is impossible to ignore. Big scenery is the order of the day—huge panoramas of ocean or mountains, great sweeps of pastureland, and massive amounts of sky.
Inland from Christchurch on the Great Alpine Highway lays the magnificent Southern Alps—only an hour from Christchurch. The villages of Springfield and Arthur's Pass make ideal bases for all kinds of activities.
In the heart of the Southern Alps is Arthur's Pass National Park, situated on a historic road between Canterbury and the West Coast. High mountains with large scree slopes are a major landscape feature, along with wide braided rivers, steep gorges, and native bush.
