Sailing Away School of Sailing invites you to learn to sail in Auckland with sailing courses and lessons for all ages regardless of previous experience on our 32-foot yacht.
Learning to sail in Auckland is made easy with a variety of options available from single lessons to five-day intermediate skipper courses.

The Sailing Away programmes cover all levels of ability, from beginners to advanced beginners, intermediate and advanced sailing.
Our sailing lessons in Auckland cover all practical aspects of helmsmenship, seamanship, personal safety and navigation.
At the conclusion of each course gain an internationally recognised Royal Yachting Association (R.Y.A) or Yachting New Zealand Keelboat Sailing qualification.

A Sailing Experience – For those who just want to experience sailing on Auckland's beautiful Waitemata Harbour, or want to take the first steps towards learning to sail.
RYA Start Yachting/Yachting NZ Level 1 – A basic learn to sail course, where you will learn the fundamentals of sailing, including helming the yacht under sail, sail handling, motor use, anchoring, man overboard and safety procedures.
Start Yachting Overnighter – This is an overnight option for new comers to sailing. You will learn to helm the yacht under sail and motor, sail handling, man overboard, anchoring and safety procedures. The course includes a two hour night sail.
Tailor Made Block Course for Beginners – A totally hands-on practical course for beginners. Includes boat helming under sail and motor, sail handling, man overboard, safety procedures and anchoring technique. Own boat tuition is an option.
RYA Competent Crew for Beginners – A totally hands-on practical course for beginners. This course teaches seamanship, helmsmenship and personal safety to a level required to be a useful member of the crew on a cruising yacht. The course includes night sailing.
Three Day RYA Competent Crew – This course builds on the skills learnt in the beginners courses and teaches seamanship, helmsmenship and personal safety to a level required to be a useful member of the crew on a cruising yacht. The course includes four hours of night sailing.
RYA Day Skipper/Boatmaster Practical – A practical yachting course to teach boat handling, helmsmenship, seamanship, pilotage and navigation to a standard required to safely skipper a small cruising yacht. This certificate is internationally recognised as a licence to charter.
RYA Coastal Skipper – A practical yachting course, teaching the advanced skills and techniques required to skipper a yacht on coastal passages by day and night. Covers advanced yacht handling, seamanship, pilotage and navigating coastal passages.
Milebuilder – Build on your seatime and experience. Refresh your Day Skipper skills in seamanship and navigation, while sailing coastal waters. Lift your sailing ability and make it a holiday to remember. Includes night sailing and spinnaker use.
Give your team a breath of fresh air on Auckland Harbour between seminar sessions. Charter 'French Connection' and your colleagues can enjoy an introduction to sailing with full tuition provided.
