Polynesian Spa Introduction

While overlooking Lake Rotorua, relax and unwind in the hot mineral pools at Polynesian Spa. Cast your eyes to the hills in the distance and reflect on this tranquil volcanic landscape once not so peaceful. Clouds of steam arise from the lake from springs deep below the water's surface.

For over 130 years people have come to these Rotorua hot pools to try the therapeutic, geothermal waters. Two types of mineral waters feed into the 28 pools at Polynesian Spa in Rotorua. Visitors have found great relief from the Priest Spring for their tired muscles and aches and pains, due to the acidity levels of the mineral water.

Whereas the alkaline water from the Rachel Spring at our Rotorua spa, due to antiseptic action of sodium silicate, is very pleasing on the skin. An old local belief is that those who swim in the Rachel Spring water will receive ageless beauty!

Deluxe Lake Spa – Enjoy tranquil bathing and lake views in four shallow alkaline rock pools, each with different temperatures (36°C to 42°C). Relax at our Rotorua hot pools and enjoy tranquil surroundings of native New Zealand flora, natural rocks, the sound of two waterfalls and a grotto.

A large relaxation lounge overlooks Lake Rotorua, where refreshments are available. As a Lake Spa guest, you are welcome to move from the pools to the lounge and return to bathe in the Lake Spa pools as you wish.

Guests can further unwind on the five geothermally heated recliners with a stunning backdrop of New Zealand's lush and natural greenery in the out door relaxation lounge.

Pavilion Pools – Just for adults, this popular area at our Rotorua hot pools complex offers seven hot mineral pools with views of Lake Rotorua. Relax in our three cascading, marble-lined pools (38°C to 39°C) or stretch out for some light activity in our larger and deeper pool (38°C).

The three Priest Spa pools (39°C to 42°C), offer special thermal bathing in acidic water from the Radium hot spring, long renowned for its therapeutic properties.

Private Pools – Relax in the privacy of one of 13 private hot mineral rock pools in Rotorua. Four deluxe pools (38.5°C) offer panoramic views of Lake Rotorua, while the other nine hot pools (38.5°C) provide quiet seclusion.

These Rotorua hot pools are filled with soothing alkaline mineral water, which leaves your skin soft and supple.

Family Spa – The Family Spa at our Rotorua spa complex offers fun and enjoyment and enjoyment for everyone! A large freshwater chlorinated pool (33°C) provides a toddler's section as well as a small hydro slide for the more adventurous.

The larger, deeper section of the pool encourages family frivolity and light fitness activity.

The Rotorua Region

When you visit Rotorua, the thermal experience is everywhere. It steams up from the pavements; there are geysers fields, mud pools, fumaroles and hot springs all over the city. New Zealand's indigenous people, the Maori named the city Rotorua; Roto meaning lake and Rua meaning two.

Although most of the Maori population live in the urban areas, there are about 35 marae (meeting grounds) in the Rotorua district. You may be lucky enough to stay as a guest on a marae – an unforgettable experience. Or you could catch a Maori cultural performance, where stories are relayed through beautiful song and dance.
