The Otorohanga Kiwi House and Native Bird Park is owned and operated by the Otorohanga Zoological Society, a non-profit organisation dedicated to the conservation of New Zealand's native birds and wildlife.
Kiwi viewing is guaranteed, your first step through our doors partners you
with us, on a magical journey.
The staff and members of the Otorohanga Zoological Society look forward to welcoming you to our Kiwi House and sharing the magic of New Zealand's rare and special fauna and flora.
Come to Otorohanga Kiwi House and view Kiwi in a magical setting. Daytime viewing is must do in our nocturnal house.
Or join us to discover more with Kiwi Watch where from the comfort of a hide you will encounter Kiwi at eye level and observe them feeding amongst the leaf litter.
Kiwi Watch takes place outside of our normal wildlife park visiting hours, so bookings are essential. Each session is restricted to a maximum of six persons, plus the guide.
Other highlights of Kiwi Watch are listening to the Kiwi's nocturnal calls and hearing the unusual night noises that are typical of the New Zealand bush.

The Kiwi House also contains a diverse collection of native birds all unique and waiting to meet you. You finish your journey with a walk through New Zealand's largest Dome Aviary.
School trips to out Waikato wildlife park are engaging and fun, there's always something new to discover. Students will learn how our Kiwi House and native Bird Park helps with the conservation of New Zealand's native birds and reptiles. All students are guaranteed to see Kiwi birds and lessons are followed by activities in the park.

Travelling south from Auckland, the Waikato is the first region south of Greater Auckland.

The main centre is the university town of Hamilton, which has an impressive collection of Maori treasures in its Museum of Art and History.
