Glowworms live in many caves around Waitomo where streams enter bearing food and very gentle air currents to carry insects upwards towards glowworm's waiting traps. Spellbound Glowworm and Cave Tour information

Spellbound takes you on a three and a hour gentle adventure to a picturesque farm setting where two special caves are found.

Both caves are included in the Spellbound tour.

The first is the astonishing Spellbound Glowworm Cave where you will spend at least 35 minutes under glowworms. Every visitor sees glowworms up close to appreciate their special survival skills. Then visitors take a gentle unhurried raft ride beneath the breathtaking glowworm display in our Waitomo nature tours. Enough time is taken for 1000's of soft blue lights to magically appear as eyes adjust to the dimness of the cave.

Our second cave, Te Ana o te Atua, is approached via a scenic gorge path. Here we turn on soft lighting and introduce you to the ancient world of the Cave of the Spirit. Fossils, cave decorations and natural cave entrances feature in this surprising cave.

Group size is limited to 12 people only, there are no crowds.

Our tours are interactive and entertaining; all you need to bring is a jacket, some comfortable walking shoes and a camera.

We allow photography in both caves, but we must restrict it during lights out on the glowworm raft ride.

We provide transport, helmets and lights, and refreshments.

Ours nature tours are accompanied by a friendly and knowledgeable guide.

Tours to our glowworm caves in Waitomo run daily except for Christmas Day, very occasionally, the raft ride may not operate for safety reasons during flooding.

Waitomo is located in the district of Waikato. The Waikato is the first region south of Greater Auckland. It has two spectacular landscapes—one above ground, the other below.
