Stonefly Lodge is situated on 150 acres of private forest only 50 minutes drive from Nelson, New Zealand. Close to many fly fishing rivers in Nelson Lakes, Motueka, and Murchison, our Nelson lodge also provides access to Abel Tasman National Park.
Centrally located between three of New Zealand's major National Parks, (Abel Tasman, Nelson Lakes and Kahurangi National Park) our accommodation in Nelson offers access to world-class brown trout rivers, spectacular New Zealand scenery and wilderness activities.
Experience the complete accommodation and fishing package for any fly fishing enthusiast. We provide expert guiding and instruction for the novice or experienced fly fisherman.
For the non-fisherman, Nelson offers a wide variety of spectacular tours including hiking, wine tasting, kayaking and exploring New Zealand's recognised boutique arts and craft regions.
Our Nelson Lakes accommodation complex is powered by alternative energy sources built onsite to reduce the projects environmental footprint.

Our Nelson Lakes accommodation has been designed to meet the needs of the most discerning traveller, yet provide home comforts with personalised hospitality from the experienced hosts.
The interior of our Nelson Lakes lodge focuses on the large stone double sided fireplace which provides the ambiance to the games room, dining room and sunroom. A large open kitchen adjoining the dining area offers the relaxed atmosphere where guest dine together, or private dining opportunities can also be catered for. Breakfasts can be served on the guest room private balcony.
The cuisine is made fresh from the extensive garden with home made produce, local quality meats and fresh seasonal seafood. Special diets are easily catered for.
Complete with library, a snooker table, and the 'Matai Bar', guests will have the ideal setting to relax after an exciting days fly fishing or after exploring the numerous sites and attractions of the local region. The upper landing area above the dining room provides a quiet secluded place to utilise our fly tying area and guest computer or just indulge in a game of chess or relax with a good book, before retiring to your accommodation.
Our Nelson lodge has been designed for entertainment and will be an ideal 'sole use' facility for private functions, weekend getaways or exclusive events.

Stonefly Lodge offers guided fishing to visible New Zealand trout locations for an exhilarating fly fishing experience.
Average catch size of brown trout in the Nelson region is approximately three to four pounds. Six pounds plus is also quite common with the chance of a trophy ten-pound brown trout only a cast away.
We have a wide range of rivers in the Nelson region. Experience relatively gentle flowing, easy access rivers to more adventurous back country streams requiring more accurate casting and a suitable level of fitness.
Further afield, within an hours drive of our Nelson fly fishing lodge, guests can access dozens of quality fishing streams and rivers within the Nelson Lakes and northern Murchison region.
Access more remote fly fishing areas with the aid of the Stonefly Lodge helicopter. View spectacular scenery by air on the way into these remote locations on your heli-fishing experience.
