Come and see the amazing variety of underwater wildlife at Kelly Tarlton's Antarctic Encounter and Underwater World and for a truly incredible experience at our marine world in Auckland, we can put you in the water too.
The Antarctic Encounter is an experience full of exciting and unique opportunities to explore the wilds of the Antarctic—past, present and beyond. Get closer than you thought possible to playful colonies of Sub-Antarctic King and Gentoo penguins from on board our Snowcat.
Don't miss 'Stingray Bay' for a tantalising glimpse of these magnificent animals with their two-metre wingspan and long barbed tails. In the Underwater World travel deep beneath the ocean on a moving walkway.
Through an acrylic tunnel you will experience a scuba divers view as a myriad of ocean life surrounds you. See giant stingray glide overhead, moray eels lurking in the rocks and then come face to face with the feared predator—Sharks—only centimetres away.
For a truly incredible experience, we can put you in the water too. Choose your level of thrill—climb into the tank with the Stingrays during a Stingray Splash personalised encounter, learn to dive in the oceanarium with our Discover Scuba experience, or take a Snorkel Safari surrounded by over 2,000 fish from New Zealand's coastal waters.
For the true adrenaline junkie there's Shark Survival—a cage-free dive with our Broadnose Sevengill, Wobbegong and School sharks (reservations are necessary).
Opened in 1985, Kelly Tarlton's is home to the first underwater transparent tunnel of its kind in the world. It was the vision of NZ-born Kelly Tarlton, a diver, explorer, inventor and storyteller...who linked us all with his love for the sea.
This is a unique New Zealand, Pacific and Southern Oceans experience not to be missed!
