The World of Wearable Arts - Exhibition is great for those wanting to tantalise their mind. Held every year in September, this festival in New Zealand showcases unique garments made from designers all over the world, bringing the artwork off the wall to adorn the body. The Wearable Arts awards began in Nelson but recently have had to move to Wellington due to popular demand.

Wine and Food Festivals - Play a big part in New Zealand's cultural events calendar, particularly in thesummer months (December - March). These events in New Zealand mean that even if the cork was stolen from your 'lunch', the food on offer would make up for it. Best known of these festivals is probably the Marlborough Food and Wine in February. People come from all over the world to attend the event, held in Montana Winery's Brancott Estate in Blenheim.

The Wildfoods Festival - The quirkiest food festival on the New Zealand culinary calendar. For something a little different as far as food festivals are concerned, the Hokitika Wild Foods Festival in New Zealand is held every year in March, providing the opportunity to try food you are unlikely to see on a restaurant menu. As well as the more unusual edible items available, this festival features traditional kiwi fare including seafood, delicious New Zealand whitebait and cervena.

Essentially, the occasion is a celebration of the West Coast's unique lifestyle, food and hospitality, with an emphasis on novel, tasty and healthy food from the land and sea, presented in an innovative manner.

The Wildfoods Chefs' Challenge has become a popular part of the event, which sees three invited chefs presented with a mystery box from which they are required to produce a mouth-watering two-course meal within an hour.

Quenstown Winter Festival - Where thousands of people head for a 10 day celebration in July for what is described as the Southern Hemisphere's 'most legendary winter party'. This festival in New Zealand offers a diverse array of fun activities that range from the wild and wacky, to the glamorous, sporting and cultural.

Speights Coast to Coast - A true endurance race. The 240 kilometre track spans from the South Island's west coast to the east coast. Athletes come from all over the world to conquer the New Zealand terrain in this incredible competition.
