The concept of Siberia Experience was established and realised by Southern Alps Air founders in 1975. It was set up as a three-component wilderness adventure activity and 30 years later the concept is still a reality.

Siberia Experience was the first operation of its kind established in New Zealand and is the only activity combination of its kind in the country it is exceptional value for money at NZ$245 per person.

The Siberia Experience includes:

Scenic Flight – 25 minutes of stunning views with Southern Alps Air, capturing the rugged beauty of New Zealand's World Heritage National Park. See glaciers, ice, snow, mountain lakes, hanging valleys, vast rain forests, unspoiled beauty.

Bush Walk – Land in the Siberia Valley to begin a three hour walk through valleys and native beech forest on a well marked track linking the remote Siberia Valley with the wilderness of the Wilkin Valley.

Jetboat – Rendezvous at the Wilkin River for a thrilling, scenic 30 minute trip to Makarora.

About Wanaka

Lake Wanaka is a year round favourite holiday destination for New Zealanders and international visitors who come to visit the ski fields of Cardrona, Treble Cone, Wairau Snow Farm in the winter.

In the summer months the lure of the water, Lakes Wanaka and Hawea, the Matukituki, Clutha, Makarora and Wilkin Rivers, the mountains of the region and the vast amount of walks available for all fitness levels attracts people from all lifestyles.
