Air New Zealand Cuisine

Because relaxing over a good meal is one of life's real pleasures, we've designed our menus to reflect the fresh, innovative cuisine of New Zealand.

In the process, we sought the views of the world's greatest chefs and have incorporated their suggestions into the most creative menus you'll find in the air.

Our wine consultants have selected wines that not only complement our menus but still taste wonderful at 30,000 feet. Along with our acclaimed inflight service you will be sure of a great dining experience.

Please note that meals are not offered on domestic flights in New Zealand and a simplified new-look menu is now served in Economy Class on Tasman and Pacific¹ flights.

Air New Zealand Inflight Entertainment

On all Tasman, Pacific and Long-haul flights there is a great mix of new-release movies plus our exclusive video shows.

Many passengers also like to bring along books, magazines, portable computer games, or walkman-style MP3, CD or cassette players. These are fine so long as they meet safety and size requirements, and do not interfere with the comfort of other passengers.

Experience the benefits of on demand entertainment - giving you control of the action. This new system is progressively being introduced on our Boeing 747 aircraft from August 2005 and on our new Boeing 777s from October 2005:

  • In-seat personal screens for every passenger
  • A digital video and audio on demand system gives you complete control - start, stop, pause, rewind or fast forward
  • Future-proofed - so enhancements like internet, email, and SMS text messaging can be accommodated in the future
  • Active noise cancellation in Business Premier provides crystal clear sound

New Routes and Exciting Initiatives of Air New Zealand

In addition to the new long-haul aircraft and in-flight product, Air New Zealand has also launched new international routes.

On June 30 2004 direct services between Auckland and San Francisco were launched, while in November 2004 direct flights between Christchurch and Los Angeles commenced. Services from Wellington to Fiji and Christchurch to the Cook Islands also began in November and December respectively.

Increased demand on our regional network led to the purchase of 17 Bombarider Q300 50 seat aircraft. The Q300s start arriving mid 2005 and will replace our smaller Saab fleet. Options to purchase a further 10 Q300 aircraft and 13 Q400 aircraft have also been secured.

In what has been busy few months Air New Zealand has also announced it's appointed leading New Zealand fashion designer Zambesi to create its new uniforms and has become the naming rights sponsor of the prestigious Air New Zealand Fashion Week.

Alongside ongoing efforts to promote New Zealand as a destination to existing markets Air New Zealand has renewed its focus on growing potential markets and earlier this year opened a sales office in Beijing, China.

With all these initiatives and the many more to follow Air New Zealand remains committed to delivering a uniquely Kiwi experience to its customers.
