Off the Beaten Track to... Methven
It's time to blow the lid on a little town called Methven in the Canterbury region of the South Island of New Zealand. It may only be a small town, but it offers travellers the perfect place to escape too whatever their budget may be. Skiing and Snow Sports
Methven offers some of the world's best heliskiing country with 6 ski fields and over 365 hectares of ski field to explore. It offers skiing and snowsports in winter and hiking all year round. It's just one hour from Christchurch and the base for all those visitors heading for the glorious slopes of Mount Hutt - but don't worry, there is plenty of room for everyone, so the peaks will never feel crowded!
You'll need some time to fully experience Mount Hutt's excellent ski terrain and facilities. Family skiing is super affordable as all children under 10 can receive free lift passes and ski/board rentals. It's a great destination for skiers and snowboarders of all ages and abilities - and truly a wonderful place and opportunity to experience alpine sports and scenery.
