Swanson is a small suburb located 12 kilometres from central Waitakere. It's also located 20 kilometres to the west of Auckland City. Swanson is a residential area with a strong sense of local community. The area was initially largely used for farming after the development of the railway led to European settlement around the mid 1800s. Nearby you will find the the beautiful Waitakere Ranges and nearby native bush. Swanson is home to Swanson Village, a shopping centre with a pharmacy, a doctor's office and very popular local café.
