Whakatane is the main town of eastern Bay of Plenty, about 90 kilometres east of Tauranga, New Zealand. Set beside the Pacific Ocean, Whakatane is the base for boat trips to White Island, an active offshore volcano. Whakatane is a one of New Zealand's sunniest places and offers a huge range of activities including deep sea fishing and diving.
