The popular Rakaia Gorge Walkway is a 10.4 kilometre return track along the top of the Rakaia Gorge, to the ferryman's track, other popular activities include jetboating in the Rakaia Gorge and fishing in the picturesque Rakaia River.

This walkway offers several geological and historic features as it traverses the edge of the Rakaia Gorge. The walkway passes through several forest and shrub communities before climbing the gorse-lined historic ferryman's track. Continue along one of several glacial and river-carved terraces to a good lookout point.
