Mt Cook and MacKenzie Country holiday homes, vacation homes, holiday rental homes and other holiday accommodation are often set in unique and stunning locations and provide visitors with all the comforts of a 'home away from home'. Often owned by locals, these homes have been designed to make their own holidays easy and comfortable, so all the equipment you need to enjoy the nearby attractions are often provided.
Although some Mt Cook and MacKenzie Country holiday homes are looked after by a holiday home management company, many are still managed by the owners themselves, so you may find yourself simply picking up the keys to the door under the flower pot. Again, whilst some holiday homes may be serviced, other holiday home owners trust their temporary tenants to leave the homes as they find them ready for the next group of holiday makers to enjoy. This may mean a spot of cleaning up before you go, but this (slight) inconvenience is usually more than offset by very attractive rental rates.
Holiday home owners usually charge by night or by week, with a minimum stay of two nights being typical. The price may vary depending on the number of people staying, the time of year and the length of the stay. Linen and towels may or may not be provided, so it's worth checking with the holiday home owner. Smoking is not usually allowed in holiday homes, although permitted outdoors and similarly, pets may be required to be kept outdoors.
