Whanganui is a region located on the south-west of the North Island of New Zealand. Whanganui main centres include Taihape, Wanganui, Palmerston North and Levin. Wanganui's name was changed to Whanganui in December 2009. Wanganui attractions include the Whanganui River, Whanganui National Park, Sarjeant Art Gallery, Royal Wanganui Opera House, City Bridge and the War Memorial Tower.
