Haast Surfing, Stand Up Paddle Boarding, & Water Sports
Haast is a small, remote settlement located on the West Coast of New Zealand. In 1990, the Haast region was declared the South West New Zealand UNESCO World Heritage Area, with claims it is a significant natural treasure comparable to the Grand Canyon and Great Barrier Reef due to its dramatic and diverse landscapes. The township of Haast was only accessible by air for many years until the Gates of Haast opened this special place up to the rest of the world. Today, you can travel to Haast on State Highway 6 either from Queenstown in the south, or Hokitika in the north.
