Air Force Museum Finalist in TNZ Awards
The Air Force Museum of New Zealand was a finalist for the Visitor Attraction and Experience Award at the 2010 Tourism Industry Awards gala dinner, which was held in Auckland on the 14th of October.
The purpose of the exhibitions at the Air Force Museum are to preserve and present the history of the Royal New Zealand Air Force for inspiration, learning and enjoyment. As well as permanent displays in the Atrium, Aircraft Hall, Wartime Family Home and the Horizon to Horizon Gallery, the Air Force Museum is showing innovation by continually developing temporary exhibitions.
The Air Force Museum offers wide range of activities that everyone is sure to enjoy. Fully interactive flight simulators and educational, hands-on displays will amaze while guided tours take you exploring behind the scenes to see fascinating restoration projects in action.
There are also a great range of activities for prebooked groups – enjoy a delicious morning or afternoon tea in an authentic wartime home with a 1940's Tea Party, view a selection of historic black and white films from the archives with Reeling Back Time or have your next children's party at the museum and experience a bombing raid!
The Air Force Museum is located at 45 Harvard Avenue on the former Air Force Base in Wigram, Christchurch and is open daily from 10am to 5pm.
