You can get a taste of life in rural New Zealand without leaving the city this November simply by attending one of the country's largest spring festivals, the New Zealand Cup and Show Week in Christchurch. The New Zealand Cup (Racing) 7 - 14th November
Join in with the fun at the races in two of Christchurch's racing homes, Riccarton Park and Addington Raceway. Marvel at the high fashion and enjoy great music, food and entertainment. (Hats optional!) Highlights include:
- Cup Meeting First Night – Starting at 5.30pm, this is prime opportunity to see the horses and dogs running for victory later in the week.
- $1 Million Magic NZ 2000 Guineas Day – Australasia's best three-year-olds competing in the major race of the day along with an exciting parade of leading Canterbury fashions, live music, and great food and beverages.
- Christchurch Casino New Zealand Trotting Cup – The highlight of New Zealand's harness racing calendar where designer outfits, hats and heels are dotted throughout an anticipated crowd of over 25,000.
- New Zealand Greyhound Cup – The country's top dogs compete for the evening's top prize.
- Lindauer Race Day – Top class racing plus loads of family fun with free rides and face painting, great food and entertainment, including live music.

The Royal New Zealand Show Wednesday 11th – Friday 13th November
At Canterbury's Agricultural Park, between 7.30am and 5.30pm, you can enjoy:
- Livestock competitions featuring cattle, sheep, alpaca, poultry, ponies and more.

Style Christchurch, Thursday 12th November
The country's top designers aim to impress in an aviation-themed theatre fashion show at Style Christchurch with their latest collections. Designers taking the runway include: Zambesi, Nom*D, Sakaguchi, Stitch Ministry, Aduki, Annah Stretton and Emma Ford Swimwear.

International Rodeo, Saturday 14th November 2009
Rodeo stars from the USA, Canada, Brazil and Australia take on Kiwi cowboys in rodeo disciplines such as bull ride, saddle bronc and bareback bronc under the bright lights and on the big screens of Westpac Arena in Christchurch.
