Ellerslie International Flower Show 2010 Christchurch, NZ
The 15th Ellerslie Flower Show held in Christchurch between 10th and 14th March is the biggest in the show's history and is expected to attract over 40,000 visitors from New Zealand and overseas. The flower show is the largest in the southern hemisphere and is becoming established as one of the top garden events in the world.
This year for the first time, the flower show includes two international feature gardens by award-winning Japanese designer, Koji Ninomiya and English designer, Chris Beardshaw. It also includes a sculpture exhibition, landscaping competition, guided garden tours, feature marquees, a flower photography competition and lots more.
Ellerslie Flower Show Highlights
- An Englishman's Retreat – Chelsea Flower Show designer, Chris Beardshaw creates a magnificent garden on the shores of Victoria Lake with almost 10,000 plants.
- Ice Oasis – This Ice Garden by Dan Rutherford will include a two metre high iceberg, developing ice sheet and ocean abundant with plants representing marine life.
- The Grown Up Garden – All Black rugby player, Andy Ellis joins forces with his mate, Danny Kamo to create a garden with no cricket, beers or barbecues in mind.
- Student Designer of the Year – Landscape students go head to head with innovative and exciting landscape designs.
- National Flower Bed Competition – Flowers, flowers, flowers and yet more flowers, as seven regions from around New Zealand compete to win the much-coveted title.
