Cirque du Soleil, Saltimbanco - 25th August - 4th September 2011
If you haven't seen Cirque du Soleil, you must have been hiding under a rock for quite a few years now. This wonderful blend of circus, acrobatic, theatrical and musical performance is simply awe-inspiring and this year, one of the company's most loved and colourful shows, Saltimbanco, has a limited two-week run in Auckland.
Saltimbanco comes from the Italian 'saltare in banco' which literally means to jump on a bench. One can be assured that the artists and performers will be doing much more than this as the show promises a thrilling, kaleidoscopic celebration of awe-inspiring artistry and agility. Over 50 performers and musicians from 20 different countries take audiences into an imaginary metropolis, full of colourful characters, breathtaking acrobatics and unbelievable athleticism during solo spotlights and epic ensembles. Technical expertise and extravagant design are woven together with spectacular costumes, amazing lighting, humour and enchanting live music. Overflowing with colour, amusement and amazement, Saltimbanco is a fun show for the whole family to enjoy.
